After working in the offshore boat industry during
college, Georges attended Loyola Law School, where
he served as a member of the Loyola Law Review and
graduated in 1979. He is admitted to practice in
all Louisiana state and federal courts, the United
States District Court for the Eastern District of
Texas, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of
Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He
is a member of the Louisiana State and American
Bar Associations, the Louisiana Association of Defense
Counsel and the Maritime Law Association of the
United States. Georges has authored several law
review articles and has addressed numerous maritime
and casualty law seminars on a variety of topics.
He is a Vice-Chair of the Admiralty and Maritime
Law Committee of the Tort and Insurance Practice
Section of the American Bar Association and for
the past ten years has served as Chairman of the
Legal Subcommittee for the Offshore Marine Service
Association.
Georges serves as a Cub Scout den leader, and
is active with his children’s school and St.
Catherine of Sienna Church, where he served for
three years as Chairman of the Pastoral Council.
He is a recipient of the Order of St. Louis by the
Archdiocese of New Orleans, which recognizes outstanding
service to the church. He is also a member of the
Board of Directors of gourmetfoodmall.com, an internet
service company.
